Lost a dirt bike to some low-life scum?

Then register the details here and maybe it will make life a bit harder for them!

Sometimes you get lucky...

Good news stories from the owners of stolen bikes.

Hi Glenn;

Got a call from WA Police stating someone had reported a bike hooning around the streets. They attended and gave chase but he managed to get away. Luckily some local residents pointed the cops in the right direction to a house where the bike had been dumped after the chase. The offenders, unfortunatly, got away over the back fence.

Thanks to the community and a good effort by the Police the bike has been recovered (only 15 days later) and is in fairly good condition which is great. Again a distinct lack of intellect on behalf of the thief(s) facilitated a speedy return of the bike.

Thanks to you guys also; we need more initiatives like stolendirtbike.com to make it harder for these losers.

Cheers

Jase

Hey all! I would like to report that me beloved 2001 KTMexc400 has been recovered by the Police! I got her back on 11/01/10 and she is mostly ok! Police found her in the backyard of a place they were doing a raid on in Keilor Downs (about 200 metres from my house!) keep up the good work and may others hang in there, sometimes, just sometimes, the good guys win one back!

Our daughters bike has now been found! In surprisingly ok nick too. Was found by police in Albury, a fair hike from home. A couple of anonymous tip-offs let us know it in Albury, and being ridden in the bush on the western side. Police came up with the goods a little over a week after the tip-offs. Picked it up this afternoon, and it's now washed and tucked up snuggly in the shed again(now fitted with a full lock-up system) Would like to say a huge thanks to http://www.stolendirtbikes.com.au for a terrific service ... have popped a link on the site I run for our local motorcycle club as I think it's something all bike owners should know about.

Good News! Got the bike back four months later, still got the same tires on it! The only thing missing was the holeshot button, the bike also had different bars. This is how I got it back.

I was driving to work when I saw a ute with three bikes on it leaving McDonalds at Tuggerah, the 450 looked like ours so we followed them to Watanobbi. When they stopped we checked it out and guess what? It was our bike. I called the cops. Iit turns out they say they bought the bike at Hornsby for 8500 chained to telegraph pole about four months ago. Also the bike was ridden at mx track at Ourimbah with members from our local motorcoss club who I'm sure would have known about the theft and didnt click to the thought. Anyway I consider myself very lucky. Stolen in Newcastle. Sold in Sydney. Bought back to the coast then found again.

No worries, and the message is never give up

Hi
Very happy to report that my bike has been recovered. Got a call from the local police this afternoon as the bike had been found by a local under a block of housing commission units. Switch block smashed out etc and I’m guessing that they never got it going and just dumped it there. By the way this is a fantastic web site – thanks.

Best regards

Mark Dreyer did some investigation of his own and with a bit of luck managed to track it down. It wasn't all sweetness though 'cause to get it back he had to buy it! $500 later it's now his - again. Now the question is, exactly what are the police doing about it???? I reckon Mark should be getting a bonus from the Police Commissioner for doing his boys work.

Congratulations Mark!

Andrew and Mary Pegler's XR400 which was stolen after the Finke Desert race has been recovered in good working order! The police have it at Hermansburg, NT.

Congratulations Andrew!

Just received a call from the Maitland Coppers near Newcastle - top bloke - & my 2003 KTM stolen in late 2005 has been found. The 22yr old tried to pawn it for $2k & the pawn shop owner smelled a rat & got the VIN of the guy telling him he needed it for legal reasons. He told the cops, who went round & questioned "the prick" who @ first denied all knowledge of the bike but was later "encouraged" to assist them with their investigation. I asked "you didn't happen to shoot the prick did you"? No - pity! It turns out this guy is just a wally who paid $5k for it from a mate in Sydney not long after it was nicked. Serves him right - buying bikes way below their value should ring alarm bells. Without the demand for stolen bikes there would be no supply!
It will now be returned to the insurance company who own it now.

HI, wanted to let you know the cops found my Yamaha ttr 125. It was recovered on Apr. 24th. They arrested the guy riding it but could only get him for posession of stolen property. They were riding in a pack and cops think my other bike is still with them. Maybe I'll luck up and get that back too. The recovered bike was in pretty good condition. It will take around $350.00 to make it right again. Thanks for all of your help.

A recent listing on the site was quite extraordinary.... a bike was stolen while the owner was camped just a few metres away from it. OK so the thieves were quiet but what is really odd is that the camp was miles from anywhere - like miles out in the bush.

Here's what happened afterwards as told by "Knopey"....

"A while ago a bunch of us were camping out in the sticks, and one of the bikes got stolen at god-knows-what in the morning, it was like 2m away from it's owner sleeping in his swag (Ben) and 4m from me... with no civilisation around for like 40k's... scary and boggling stuff...

We looked for it all over, swore a lot... it was all bad, and chances of seeing it again were buckley's and none. Uninsured....

Anyway this was like... 1.5-2 months ago? or so.

Well, it turns out! Some bloke was out there marking some track for an event this weekend and saw something shiny in a gully. Investigated and there it was, Ben's 525!

Of course he didn't know it was Ben's... he asked around at the local police who said they knew nothing (bullcrap!), then checked the Stolen Dirt Bikes website http://www.stolendirtbikes.com.au/ and got hold of the owner through there! How awesome is that!

And the second awesome thing is, given the way the bike must have ended up in the gully, the farkknuckle who took it must have gone off a mini-cliff in the dark (no lights) and nearly killed himself. Too bad... (Consideration is being given to checking with the local hospitals to see who came in with crash damage that night, and finishing the job...)

So, I guess karma does come around sometimes hey And DrDad your site's phulli sik mate."

To all you guys and girls who have had your bike stolen, we're glad to be of service!
